William Floyd (Bill) Willis, passed away on November 7, 2018. He was born at Baptist Hospital on November 27, 1951 to Floyd and Peggy Willis.

Bill graduated from Pensacola High School and attended one year of college at Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. He returned to Pensacola and received his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree from the University of West Florida. He began his career as a teacher at Woodham High School in 1976. He taught American and European history to traditional and advanced placement level students. He was faculty sponsor for Woodham’s academic team, “Brain Brawl” and it often produced champions. After Woodham became a middle school, he taught at Pine Forest High school before retiring in 2015. Bill loved teaching and always wanted to do the best he could for his students. As his students will attest, he was one of the most intelligent people you could ever meet. He kept in touch with many of them after they graduated and was always interested in how they were doing. In 2017, many of his former students showed their appreciation and love for him by giving him a trip to Rome, Italy which had been a place he had always wanted to visit.
He was kind, compassionate, and generous man with a great sense of humor. Bill loved the Lord, his family, friends, his church, and FSU sports. He was an active member of the Community of Christ Church and served in many areas willingly and well.

He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd; wife, Barbara Stevens Willis; and Brother-in-law, Bill Bradley.
William is survived by his son, William; mother Peggy; sister, Anne Bradley; niece, Jene Bradley; nephew, Scott (Rachel) Bradley; and many cousins who were special to him.

Relatives and friend are invited to a memorial celebration of Bill’s life to be held at Olive Road Community of Christ Church on November 16, 2018 at 11: ooa.m.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
