Obituary for Alexis Kristen Fitzgerald

Alexis Kristen Fitzgerald, 24, of Jacksonville, Florida left this world unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 after succumbing to her injuries from a house fire that occurred on Monday, December 26th, 2022. Lexy was born July 29, 1998, in Metairie, Louisiana to Patrick Christian Fitzgerald and Brookleigh Boyd Fitzgerald. In April of 2002, Lexy’s family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida and she attended Elementary School at Lakeside Elementary. In 2009, she moved to Milton, Florida, and attended both King Middle School and Milton High School. From an early age, it was clear she had a love of being outdoors and caring for animals. Growing up, she enjoyed spending time with her horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, fish, and an umbrella cockatoo. Throughout her life, she was an equine enthusiast. Her passion for horses began as the result of every little girl’s dream, her own horse, named “Duke”. Lexy loved to go four-wheel riding and was fascinated with theme parks, especially Disney World. The crazier the rollercoaster, the more excited she was! As a musicophile, she loved all genres of music and was rarely seen not rocking out to something in her headphones or on her stereo. On February 5, 2018, Lexy and De`Vyon Duane Green welcomed the love of their lives into the world, Rozae Tremaine Fitzgerald. Zae could not have been blessed with more loving parents. Lexy blossomed into a doting mother who spent every available minute at Zae’s side. From cooking his breakfast to singing and dancing together, the two were inseparable and had an unbreakable bond. In 2019, Lexy moved back to Orange Park, Florida to be closer to her grandparents and sister, McKenzie Boyd Baswell. While there, she lived a comfortable life and worked for Lowes, Amazon, and Hampton Inn. Her dream was to open her own housekeeping company. Lexy is survived by her fiance’, De`Vyon Green. Father and Stepmother, Patrick Fitzgerald & Amy Langille Fitzgerald, her Mother and Stepfather, Brookleigh Fitzgerald & Scott Baswell. Grandparents Bryan & Catherine Fitzgerald, Robert Boyd, Donnalyn & Stephen Brown, and Cheryl Langille. Sisters, McKenzie Boyd Baswell, Skylar Cook, Kaitlyn Arland, Makayla Arland, and Kelsey Dyal. Aunts, Erica Fitzgerald, Lindsey Boyd, Ashleigh Boyd, Erica Brown, and Jessica Brown. Lexy was preceded in death by her Grandfather, Donald Langille, and two days prior to gaining her wings, by her four-year-old son, Rozae Tremaine Fitzgerald who also gained his wings as a result of smoke inhalation from the fire. Lexy was full of life and a very bright light in a very dark world. She was loyal to those she cared for, a caretaker to friends and family in need, and adored by all who knew her. From a little country girl, who was full of spark to a young Mother who loved fiercely, her infectious laugh will stay in the hearts and memories of all who knew her. She had the kind of laugh that was truly genuine and came deep from within her beautiful soul. Even in death, parts of Lexy and Zae will continue to live on through their respective donations to others in need. As two journey’s ended, many others gained renewed hope for life. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 29th, 2023 at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium. Arrangements are being handled by Trahan Family Funeral Home.
