Obituary for Alfred Leroy Vinson

Alfred Leroy Vinson, 77, of Milton Florida passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by loved ones on December 7, 2022. He was born in Gainesville, Florida to Aggie and Priscilla Welch Vinson as their youngest of 9 children.

After graduating high school, he joined the United States Navy and served his country throughout the Vietnam war. Following that he spent many years in Law Enforcement including becoming the first black Police Officer in Chula Vista, California. He later retired from the State of California Department of Corrections.

He always had his hands to the plow by painting historic houses and was a cross country truck driver part time. He loved the Lord and the only book he would choose to read was the Bible. He was an animal lover saving countless wildlife and dogs' lives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aggie and Priscilla Vinson; his siblings: Billy Vinson, Helen Peterson, Robert James Vinson, Charles Vinson, Leland Vinson, Barbara Jean Winthrop, and Deloris Colson; and his young son, Marcell Vinson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Sheryll Anne Vinson of Milton, Florida; his sister, Shirley Lloyd of Gainesville, Florida; his daughters, Tonda Satoria Beaty (Ritchie) of Stockbridge, Georgia, Eutoria Consuetta Smith (Victor, Sr) of Smyrna, Georgia, and LaDawna Vinson of Milton, Florida; his grandchildren: Zyer Naim Beaty, Mi’Ana LaSarah Vinson, De’Ontay Marcell Vinson, Izaiah Patrick Gonzalez, Rowan Dawn Gonzalez, Victor Allen Smith, Jr.; and a host of other family members and friends.

He is truly missed by those who loved him most.
