Obituary for Alida S Newton

Alida Newton, 89, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away on Jan 19, 2021, in the early morning. She was born in Atmore, AL on Feb 10th, 1931 to Isaac and Emira (Mita) Stewart, and was a proud alumnus of Auburn University. Alida married Robert Newton in 1954, and had 3 children; James, Marie, and Bruce. She loved life as an Army Officer’s wife, the travel that went with it, and her large circle of family and friends. Alida was an amazing realtor for over 40 years. She loved her family, friends, the beach, and travel with a passion, leaving smiling people in her wake! A stolen quote from a dear friend: “May God have her sitting next to him”.

Alida spent many happy years in the Camelia Garden Club. She loved her church, St Ann’s Catholic church in Gulf Breeze, FL where she worked tirelessly with the women’s auxiliary club.
Alida was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Robert Newton, and is survived by her three children, James Newton, Marie Newton Steele, and Bruce Newton.

Services for Alida will be on Jan 25th, at St Ann’s Catholic church in Gulf Breeze; 100 Daniel Dr, GB 32562. Visitation will start at 10:30 and the mass will start at 11:00. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, attendance at the service will be limited to 50 attendees. Wearing of masks will be mandatory, and masks will be available at the door.
