Obituary for Alvin Elliott Baldree

Alvin “Al” Elliott Baldree, 79, passed away at his home in Pensacola on Sunday, January 24, 2021. Al was born on July 24, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Aaron Patrick and Dollie Baldree. He attended Pasco High School and went on to serve in the United States Navy in 1959.
Al was working for Murphy’s department store when he was transferred to Pensacola where he met the love of his life, Carel, in 1964. Al and Carel were married the following year on his birthday in 1965. After spending 12 years in Miami, they returned to Pensacola where Al worked as a salesman for a local garden supply company for 30 years before retiring in 2008.
Al enjoyed working in the garden, woodworking in his workshop, and hunting and fishing with his nieces and nephews. He especially loved spending time with family and sharing stories about his earlier years. Al had a life well-lived and managed to leave a permanent mark etched in the hearts of those he loved.
Al had a major presence in the lives of his nieces and nephew, Kim Scruggs, Dawn Janes, Tina Kitts, Josh Goodwin and great-nephew, Thumper Grice. He was a “constant” in their lives and was always there to support them in whatever endeavors they chose to pursue.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carel; sister, Libby Parton; brothers, John “Boobie” (Joanie) Baldree, J.W. (Donna) Baldree, Lonnell (Debbie) Baldree, David (Phyllis) Baldree; sisters-in-law, Annette (Leonard) James and Pam (Gorden) Wade and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives too numerous to count.
Al is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucy Antonucci, Loyis Collins, Ruth Gewecke; brothers, A.P. (Dorothy) Baldree, Melvin (Audrey) Baldree, Earl (Carole) Baldree; sister-in-law, Carol Baldree and parents-in-law, Marvin and Louellen Palmer.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Trahan Family Funeral Home in Pensacola, Florida. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Honorary Pallbearers: Josh Goodwin, Thumper Grice, Bubba Kitts, Colby Scruggs, Wyatt Scruggs, Grayson Simmons and Cole Goodwin.
