It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Amy Lynn Cope, of Pensacola, FL on May 15, 2021 at the age of 51. Amy was in the care of Covenant Care Hospice, surrounded by her dear friends and family.

Amy was born to Ronald and Patricia Cope on March 13, 1970, in Elkhart, Indiana and grew up in Worthington, MN. She attended Worthington Senior High School, went on to earn her Bachelors in Education at Winona State University and then earned her Masters in Reading Education/Reading Specialist at the University of West Florida. Amy was a Primary school teacher in Escambia County Florida for eight years then Santa Rosa County School District for 15 years.

We will remember Amy’s beautiful smile, infectious laugh and sweet hugs, she was pure sunshine in the many lives she touched. She was a talented, well respected educator with a huge heart and passion for what she did. Amy not only had a huge impact on the children she taught, but also in the lives of the teachers she taught with, her friends and her family. She was a beautiful person inside and out. Amy had a lot of love to give to all of those around her, but the true love of Amy’s life was her dog, Lady; her baby, her reason for everything. Amy was a dog mom, a cat mom, a daughter, the best sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and loving friend to all who she encountered.

Amy is survived by her Mother, Patricia Cope; sister, Debra (Brian) Bahr; brothers, David (Shelley) Cope and Ronald (Denise) Cope; her niece, and nephews, Brandon (Brittany) Cope, Travis (Nicole) Cope, Linzey (Alex) Alman, Christian (Madison) Cope, Noah Bahr, Caleb Bahr and Gabriel Bahr as well as her five grand nephews. Amy was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Cope; Grandmothers, Alma Whitaker, Doris Burkey and Margarete Cope; Grandfathers, Wilbur Whitaker, Fred Burkey and Clyde Cope.

When you think of Amy, celebrate the fun memories you have of her. Remember to enjoy the little things in life, as life is short and fragile. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A small, private, family service will be held later in the year due to the continued illness of Amy’s mother. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be made in Amy’s name to the Escambia County Animal Shelter at:
Covenant Care Center for Hospice at: .
