Obituary for Andrew "Jack" Jackson Loyed

Andrew Jackson Loyed “Jack”, age 87, was born on June 12, 1936, to the late Andrew Lee Loyed and Effie Loyed of Wausau, Florida.

He graduated from Chipley High School in 1954. He met the love of his life Betty Jean Brackin in 1953 when Jack and his dad delivered ice to her house. Their courtship continued and in 1954 Jack joined the Navy and went to boot camp in Great Lakes, IL. When he graduated from boot camp, he came home, and he and Betty were married on Dec 1, 1954. They were then stationed in California for the next four years onboard the USS Rochester where he served multiple deployments in the Western Pacific. After he left the Navy, they moved to Pensacola and then to Pace, where they resided for the rest of his life. He worked for Foremost Milk Company delivering milk for a short time and then went to work for American Cyanamid for 32 years and retired from there. After retirement, he drove a school bus for Santa Rosa County Schools and then worked for George Atchison at Green Acres for another 10 years.

Jack was a member of Pace Assembly of God Church for many years where he was always happy to help anywhere that he was needed. He especially enjoyed serving as an usher and had the heart of a true servant. Due to his health, he was unable to physically attend church the last couple years but faithfully watched online each week. He was so thankful for the support of his Pastor and church family. He was also previously a member of Words of Life Church, Pensacola Florida where he served as a Sunday School teacher, usher, and board member for many many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew & Effie Loyed; his sister, Louise; and his brothers: General Lee, James, William Earl, and Tommy.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty; Jack had three beautiful children, one son and two daughters, Charles Loyed (Diane), Sherry Turner (Glen), and Leslie Curly (Tom); five grandchildren: Candace Parker (Sam), Allison Beal (Stephen), Melissa Blackwell (Kris), Andrew Loyed (Lindsey) and Tina Broxterman (Daniel); 11 great grandchildren with one on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.

The pallbearers for the service will be Andrew Loyed, Sam Parker, Stephen Beal, Kris Blackwell, Daniel Broxterman, and David Dorado. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Brackin, Chase Brackin, Gary Loyed and Larry Loyed.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 24, at Pace Assembly, 3948 Hwy. 90, Pace, FL. Visitation will start at 11:00am with the funeral service beginning at 1:00pm, with a graveside to follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery, Milton, FL.
