Obituary for Arch Black

Arch LaPoint Black, Jr., passed away on March 6, 2023. Arch was born in Houston, Texas, to Arch and Theresa Black. He and his twin sister Ina traveled many places with their military family, and when Arch joined the Navy in 1957 he continued to travel, both in and out of the country. In 1962, he married Faye Thompson Coyner. They enjoyed outdoor activities such fishing, camping and traveling with their RV club, and had 57 years together. Arch was a member of the Warrington Elk’s Lodge and The American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ina, and his infant daughter Theresa. He is survived by his daughter Deborah (Butch) Petch, David (Darlene) Coyner, William (Amy) Coyner, Robert (Christy) Black, and Curtis Black, as well as eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Trahan Family Funeral Home in Pensacola is in charge of arrangements and will hold visitation on Thursday, March 23, at 11:30 a.m., with service at 12:30 p.m. and interment at Barrancas National Cemetery. Following interment, Warrington Elks’ Lodge #2108 will host a celebration of his life.
