Obituary for Atchie Almeta "Bobbie" McKeithen

Atchie Almeta “Bobbie" (Pons) McKeithen, age 85, of Milton, FL, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Bobbie was born February 25, 1937, to Thurman and Alline Pons, in Waldo, FL. She grew up in a large family, helping to raise her siblings. Bobbie’s selfless and caring nature was a Godsend to her family and everyone she encountered throughout her life. Her passion for caring for others transitioned throughout her life, making her a wonderful spouse and mother. She never met a stranger, always welcoming friends and family into her home and her heart.

Bobbie met the love of her life, Asa McKeithen, after he returned home from an enlistment in the Navy. Bobbie and Asa were married in 1954 and spent 69 joyful years together on their charming Coldwater Creek homestead. Bobbie had an eye for beauty and a love for nature, spending every free moment tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved painting and creating works of art on gourds. Every Saturday, you could always find Bobbie getting up early to go to garage sales to find the perfect items she could turn into a creative treasure. She was a woman of faith who was always volunteering and taking care of people within the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman and Alline Pons; son, Eddie McKeithen; and siblings: Peter Pons, Jake Pons, Herbert Pons, Pat Pons, Phillip Pons, Eloise Neal, and Juanita Smith.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Asa McKeithen; sons, Allan (Keetsa) McKeithen of Milton, Justin (Sherri) McKeithen of Milton, and Rance (Kate) McKeithen of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Chase (Rebecca) McKeithen of Milton, and Briteny (Vince) Boden of Southside, TN; great-grandchildren: Jake McKeithen, Elizabeth McKeithen, Jackson McKeithen, Vincent Boden, IV, Benny McKeithen, Luke Boden; and siblings, Angela Anderson and Margie Waters.

Pallbearers will be: Ben Adkinson, Jimmy Protffit, Jimmy Holland, Chase McKeithen, Jake McKeithen, and Vince Boden.

Funeral services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, on Sunday, January 15, 2023, with visitation at 1:30 and service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Crain Cemetery.
