Obituary for Barbara Joan Nelson
Barbara Joan Nelson, 84, passed away on February 4, 2021. She was born on February 6, 1936 in Pensacola, Florida to Thelma (Lewis) and Coley Knowles.
She and her husband Douglas lived in Dallas for many years before retiring to the local area. Joan loved to play poker and she was an avid bowler. She would travel often to bowling tournaments and bowled with Earl Anthony, Mark Roth, and Dick Webber.
Joan was preceded in death by: her husband, Doug Nelson; her twin sister, Dorothy “Jean” Baysinger; and her brother, Jerrold Knowles.
Survivors include her sisters, Joyce Knowles Witham and Carol “June” Padgett; nephews: Barry Witham, Charles Little (Cindy), Randy Padgett (Leanna) and Mark Padgett (Angie); and nieces: Cheryl Little, Sheila Knowles Schulz, Sharron Knowles Shelley, and Donna Strouse (Phil), and her beloved furbaby, Bear.
A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
