Obituary for Buddie Charles French
Buddie Charles French, 84, went home to be with the Lord on January 2, 2023. Under the care of Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Florida, after a long illness. He was in the presence of care giver, Kathy Dodd Jackson; niece, Julie Congleton; and grand- niece, Shelly Burson Ard.
Buddie was born on July 26, 1938 in Union Precinct, just west of Bonifay. He left school and enlisted into the United State Navy and served honorably.
Buddie worked as a union carpenter for most of his working life in Miami, Florida and was previously married to Lois Jean Brown (passed 2001) but divorced in the late 70’s with no surviving children from the marriage. After the death of brother Russell, Buddy forged a strong bond with his nephew, the late Russell Keith French. Keith often stating that his “Uncle Bud” was like a father to him.
Buddie is preceded in death by Inez French Congleton, Richard A. French, Jeanette Rosa French Wilson, Helen C. French, Robert C. French, Frank R. French, Margie French Kennedy, Vera M. French Carroll, Pammy L. French Thomas, Russell French, Robert French, and Charles French.
Buddie was the last surviving member of Buster (Abram) and Rosa Lee Sanders French family, and numerous nieces and nephews across the country.
The funeral service will be held at Sims Funeral Home, West Pennsylvania Avenue Bonifay, Florida 32425 on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will start 1:00 p.m. Interment will be by military honors at Bonifay Cemetery.
