Obituary for Calvin E "Cal" Brooks

Calvin E. Brooks of Milton, FL, passed away on May 28, 2022, at the age of 86.

Calvin known as "Cal" by friends and family was born in Evergreen, AL. He graduated Evergreen High School in 1953 where he enjoyed running track and playing in a band. After high school, he entered the United States Air Force where he served for three years as a security officer.

Cal was blessed with two daughters with his first wife, Gloria Fay, whom he met on a double date. Through these daughters, Gloria Delvene and Gaila Darlene, he has seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Whew!

He spent his later years married to Jo and enjoyed many family activities with her three children and their grandchildren. Cal and Jo loved fishing and listening to music. She went to heaven a few years before Cal, but I'm sure she's saving him a seat in the boat.

Just as near and dear to his heart were his fur babies. Bobo, Brutus, and Muffin have been waiting on him for their treats! His compassion and kindness toward animals were inspiring.

As a teenager, Cal would spend countless hours practicing and playing his guitar. As lead singer and guitarist, Cal took his high school band all the way to win the state championship competition. They won by performing, Elvis Presley's, "Blue Suede Shoes." His love of music was evident throughout his entire life and no doubt he's found a place in the heavenly band.
