Obituary for Carl James Thompson

Carl James Thompson passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022. Carl was born on May 29, 1948 in Bristol, CT to the late Ernie and Virginia (Ahlin) Thompson of Cantonment, FL. Carl was a graduate of Goodwin Tech in New Britain, CT as a machinist. He retired from Continental Eagle in Prattville, AL - also as a machinist. He loved his job and his trade.

Carl served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam Era. He was a proud veteran and loved his country.
He enjoyed camping and loved to swim at the river and the beach. Laughing was his best medicine and his smile was contagious. Carl was generous, loving, and loved to make you laugh.

He will be missed by so many.

Carl is survived by his daughter, Darcy Anderson Abbott (Ron) of New Hartford, CT; his son, Joshua James Thompson (Cara) of Molino, FL; six grandchildren, Justin Thompson (Amy) of Molino, FL, Jason Anderson of Naugatuck, CT, Cara R. Thompson of Pensacola, FL, Brier Thompson, Kylee Thompson and Alan Thompson of Molino, FL; two great grandchildren, Bobby and Ryland Thompson of Molino, FL; two brothers and a sister, Neil Thompson (Sandra) of Cantonment, FL, Arne Thompson (Jennifer), of Haysville, KS and Nancy Thompson also of Cantonment, FL; four nephews, Toby J .Thompson, Troy L.E Thompson, Christopher L. Thompson and Corey A. Thompson; niece, Shauna F. McKinney; Carl's cherished friend, Jim Lord of Southington, CT; who he loved and respected; referred to Carl as "Tamale" since childhood; an honorary daughter, Anne Parker and grandchildren, Jonathon and Kachanne Thomas.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Arcadia Health and Rehabilitation for the care they showed and gave him.

A service for Carl will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Trahan Family Funeral Home. The service will begin at 8:15 a.m. Immediately following the service we will leave in procession to Barrancas National Cemetery where he will be interred.
