Obituary for Charles Franklin Eubanks

Charles Franklin Eubanks, 84, of Milton, Florida passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

Charles was born on “Five Nine Thirty Nine” (May 9, 1939), in Mitchell County, Georgia to parents, Robert Elmon Eubanks and Edna Irene Turner Eubanks. Charles lived a long and full life.

He graduated from Pelham High School in 1957. He always said, “I graduated in the upper half of the lower half of my class.” He joined the US Navy in 1959 and proudly served our country for 22 years. While serving in the Navy he received a Bachelor’s degree of Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle College Aeronautical University.

He met and married the love of his life, Johnnie Ruth Jones, on March 20, 1965 in Jacksonville, FL. They met while she was Christmas caroling with her sister’s Girl Scout Troop.

After his retirement from the Navy, Charles worked for many years for Raytheon at NAS Pensacola.
Charles always looked forward to his lunch gatherings with his Navy shipmates. He has the most amazing circle of Navy buddies. They are family. Home is where the Navy sends you.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Irene Eubanks; older brother, Russell Edward (Sandra Doris Cooke Eubanks) Eubanks.

He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Ruth Eubanks; daughter, Sheila Marie Miller; granddaughter, Lynn Marie Miller; younger brother, Tommy (Pat) Eubanks; as well as countless adored cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, 6539 Trammel Drive, Milton, FL 32570 with visitation at 10:15 AM and service at 11:00 AM. Followed immediately, at Trahan, with a fellowship lunch of some of Charles’ favorite Southern foods.
