Obituary for Christina Lynn Strickland

Christina Lynn Strickland, 54, earned her heavenly wings on January 16, 2021, in Pensacola, Florida after a frustrating battle with multiple health complications.

Christina was born on November 13, 1966 to Jerry Lee and Linda Gail Cash in Fort Stewart, Georgia. She graduated from Stuttgart High School in Germany in 1986.

In 1984, she met Richard Adrian Harman, and they wed in October 1986, going on to have one daughter, Angela Michelle in February 1988.

In 1990 she met Jack "Cal" McCombs but, they never married. She had one son, Timothy Michael in March 1991.

In 1992, she met Jesse Ward Strickland, Jr. and she welcomed his three sons, Christopher Ward, Herman Zane, and Jesse Ward Strickland III into her heart as her own. They were married in 1999.

When Christina had Angela, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Chris excelled at supporting her family through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. She co-parented with the mothers of her stepsons, especially Martha, as well as with her daughter’s “Missouri family” which included Richard and Lauren Harman and their two children, Katherine Grace and Benjamin Aaron. She was always there, supporting Angela through nursing school, supporting Timothy through basic training in the United States Army, guiding her niece, Lexus, with her two children Noah Austin and Neveah Heatherly Grace; Zane and Katherine, with their son, Kian Zane; Jesse and Jeanine with their two sons, Jesse Ward IV and Jaxon Tyler Lei; Jesse and Julie with their son, Cooper Gaines; niece, Ryan with her children Jalena Jocelyn, Jazlyne Rose, Luis Raul, and Sophia Kapriece, through the adventures of parenthood, and taking care of her parents, sister-in-law Julia Ann Strickland and other family members when their health was not at its best, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. She always put others’ needs before her own. This love of caring led her to graduate from the Medical Assistant program at Virginia College in 2007 but, she remained at home to care for her family.

Chris enjoyed cooking and prioritized feeding everyone first, even if that meant that she went without. She wasn’t a fan of shopping, but she loved to provide for those around her. We will miss her greatly.

Chris was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Marlin Frank Cash and Ruby Dupree; maternal grandparents, William “Bill” Frank Haney, Sr and Connie Ruth Haney.

She is survived by her parents, Jerry Lee and Linda Gail Cash; twin sisters, Lori Teresa Edwards (Cash) and Tracey Lynette Thomason (Cash); daughter, Angela Michelle Hermann (Harman); son, Timothy Michael Harman; stepsons, Christopher Ward, Herman Zane, and Jesse Ward Strickland III; cousins, William Frank Haney III, Stephanie Evon Crawford (Haney); niece, Lexus Teresa; and husband, Jesse Ward Strickland, Jr. and numerous family members in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Texas.

A funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Trahan Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. with the service following at 1:00 p.m.
