Obituary for Cora Janice Smith

Cora Janice Smith, 96, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, March 22, 2024.

On October 5, 1927, somewhere in Gwinnett County Georgia the youngest of 8 children was born to Alexander Sr. & Emma Simpson.

Cora Janice Simpson was born at home on the farm, just 5 miles from Duluth. Being the youngest didn’t shelter her from the hard living required of supporting yourself and family from the land. When she was young, she moved to south GA and still helped out in the family business of farming and enjoying life.
She eventually moved to Florida where she married and raised a family in Pensacola. In Pensacola she held several positions of employment, but her favorite was homemaker and made sure that anyone that visited never left hungry.

Janice surrendered her heart and soul to Jesus at a young age and continued to study the Bible and converse with her Savior until it was her time to go home.

She leaves her children and their families and multiple nieces and nephews to cherish her memory, while reuniting with her loved ones that preceded her.
Remember she is no longer in pain from this world but is walking in the presence of the Almighty.

A service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd., Pensacola, FL 32503. The service will begin at 11:00a.m., and she will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery.
