Obituary for Dorothy Jane Knighten

Dorothy Jane Knighten
January 27, 1955 – April 19, 2021

Dorothy Jane Knighten age 66 of Pensacola Florida passed from this life to her eternal reward on April 19,2021 at Sabal House Assisted Living. Born in Pensacola Florida on January 27, 1955 to Milton and Dorothy Baker.

Jane was actively involved with home visitations and youth ministry when she was younger. She graduated Pensacola High School and began working within the Escambia County District in various departments until her retirement on August 14, 2005. Jane was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church in Pensacola and loved to help her brothers church Word of Truth in Blountstown Florida. For many years she assisted with the FPC youth choir. She played the organ and piano, sang with the Sanctuary Choir, and taught piano lessons. Jane loved being involved with music and sharing her love for Jesus with anyone she met. Even through her time at Sabal House she continued to play and worship in song. Her witness is far reaching and has impacted many people. She will be greatly missed.

Jane is preceded in death by Estelle (Granny) Hurst; her parents, Milton and Dorothy Baker; and her brothers, Elmer ‘Gene’ Baker and Pastor Ronald Baker.

She is survived by her brother, Timothy Baker (Pam Hayes); her sisters, in law Jeanne Baker and Sandra Baker; son, Matthew (Jessica) Knighten; daughters, Ashley Knighten and Linda (Jamie) Mears; her grandchildren, Claire and Zane Knighten, Jerron, Brenden, and Payton Mears; niece and nephews, Melissa Baker, Alex (Tracey) Baker, Christopher Baker, and Kevin Baker, and many great nieces and nephews. Jane had many people she considered part of her family.

She loved the leadership and members of both FPC Pensacola and Word of Truth Blountstown Florida dearly.

With the assistance of Trahan Family Funeral Home and First Pentecostal Church, a memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of FPC on May 3, 2021 at 6pm in the evening.
