Obituary for Frances Castleberry

Frances Castleberry, 92, of Chumuckla went to Her Lord and Savior on January 24th, 2023. She was born on November 22nd, 1930, to her parents Eugene and Lillie Joiner in Chumuckla, Florida. She was raised as a share-cropper’s daughter, she was one of eleven children! She married the love of her life, Bertie, in 1946. She went to Chumuckla High School in her youth. She worked at various jobs throughout her life but worked at the Chumuckla Elementary School for 48 years and was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the School Board of Santa Rosa County and the Non-Instructional Employee of the Year Award from Chumuckla Elementary School in both May of 1992 and June of 1993. She was strong in her faith and lived her life as an example. She attended the Chumuckla Holiness Pentecostal Church for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Bertie L. Castleberry; her parents; five siblings; and two grandsons. She is survived by her daughter, Helen L. Brooks (Joe); her son, Marvin L. Castleberry (Sally); her two sisters, Wyonia McDonald and Jeanette J. Kesler; one brother, Lincoln Wayne Joiner; nine grandchildren; twenty- five great-grandchildren’ and eight great-great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
She will have a visitation beginning at 1pm with a service to follow at 2pm on January 31st, 2023 at New Hope Assembly of God Church, 9550 Chumuckla Hwy, Jay, FL 32565, with a procession to follow to Old Spring Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
