Obituary

Jeanne Weeks passed away at age 93 at The Veranda Assisted Living Center in Pensacola, FL, due to complications from COPD.

Jeanne is now re-united with her husband Joe and daughter (Scherry), who proceeded her in 2011.

Jeanne is survived by her son, Duane (Peoria, IL) and daughter Jacqueline (Pensacola, FL). Jeanne and Joe had three children, 7 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Jeanne was a strong committed Christian who knew the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was active along with Joe in church life throughout his military career and their many travels. Jeanne and Joe were founding members of Perdido Bay UMC, and part of the Walk to Emmaus community.

Jeanne was born in Tullahoma, TN where she attended high school and met Joe who was in flight training in the Army Air Corps preceding WWII. Jeanne was married at age 17 and began her journey of love and faith with Joe that would last for the next 66 years. Jeanne’s adventurous and colorful life began in a small town in Tennessee and saw her making a family home in nine different states, Germany, and Greece.

Jeanne was totally committed to family and a proud, dedicated mother. She made a loving home as Joe was transferred around the world, and served combat tours in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. She served in various roles in Officer’s Wives Clubs at different military bases where Joe was the senior officer. She ran an interior decorating business in Nashville, TN and Pensacola, FL. She was employed as the Social Director at Army Navy Club in Washington D.C. She modeled in local fashion shows and acted in local theatre groups.

Jeanne will always be remembered for her friendly smile, sense of humor, loving nature, caring friendship, and dedication to family. We mourn her loss but celebrate her new life with Joe and other Christian loved ones in heaven that preceded her. Praise God for His promises for all those who know and put their trust in Him.

Jeanne believed in the truth of John 3:16 – that she would have eternal life with Jesus and her loved ones who also put their trust in Jesus as Lord of their life. Jeanne also believed in Revelations 3:20 where Jesus said: “Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in with him and dine with him, and he with me.”

A Memorial Service will be held at Perdido Bay United Methodist Church, followed by a burial service at Barrancas National Military Cemetery at Pensacola Naval Air Station on a date to be announced.
