Obituary for Gayle Hamblin

Gayle Hamblin was reunited with his family in Heaven on September 20, 2022. Gayle was born on December 7, 1938 in Dunraven, Kentucky to Green Hamblin and Edna Jones.

Gayle was a very accomplished man. He served his country for 23 years as a Cryptologist in the United States Navy. He then served another 23 years after retirement as a government contractor for the Navy. He received his Master’s Degree for education from the University of West Florida. Gayle had a passion for sports. He loved sports so much that he became a high school basketball couch during his younger years. He was a family man and loved this family more than anything.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Green and Edna Hamblin; sister, Kay Hamblin- Cari Norman; brothers Baxter and Warren Hamblin.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Vanda Hamblin; brother, Bruce Hamblin of Ohio; daughters, Shiela Hamblin and Michelle Hamblin of VA, Judy Hamblin of CA; sons, Charles and Kevin of Pensacola; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a host of numerous shipmates, friends and neighbors.

A special thanks to Dr. Adam Tarnosky and staff and Hospice Nurses.

A Celebration of Life for Gayle will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Trahan Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with the service to follow at 9:30 a.m. Following the service, we will leave in procession to Barrancas National Cemetery where he will laid to rest.
