Obituary for Gerald Harris Jr.

Retired JOC Gerald W. Harris Jr. passed away on March 24, 2023. Gerald was born on May 22, 1965 in Portsmouth, VA. He was the oldest of five brothers. He graduated from Woodham High School in Pensacola Florida in 1983 and studied journalism at Pensacola Junior College. He joined the US Navy in the spring of 1986, becoming a Chief Journalist in 2001, and retiring in 2008. Gerald loved to write, sail, read, go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, play tabletop RPGs, and listen to music from the 60s, 70s, and especially the 80s. Gerald was a published fiction author who enjoyed studying WWI history and biblical history. Mostly, Gerald loved to make people laugh.

He is preceded in death by his parents, CW04 Gerald Wesley Harris, Sr. and Mary Louise Skrobacki-Harris, and his brother Geoffrey M. Harris.

He is survived by his wife, Alycia Rusch Harris, and his four children, Rosalyn Fae Mizzell-Fuller, Jennifer Crystal Walters, Spencer Kyle Harris, and Alexander Maxwell Harris; his ten grandchildren, Vi Nathaniel Mizzell (18), Anastasia Fae Mizzell (16), David Cillian Mizzell (14), Charles George Mizzell (12), Alan Christopher Mizzell (11), Calvin Joseph Glenn Fuller (7), Oliver Edward Phineas Fuller (5), Natalie Sofia Walters (12), Matthew Lewis Walters (12), Charlotte Grace Walters (11), his three brothers Gregory K. Harris, Graham D. Harris, Gary C. Harris, and numerous extended family and friends whom he cherished.
