Gerald Henry Thomas was welcomed into this world by his parents, the late Henry and Ida Mae Thomas on February 23, 1941. He was the eldest of five siblings, he departed this life on December 8, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Gerald grew up in Port St. Joe, Florida. He attended Washington High School. He joined the US Army in 1957. He was employed and retired from Monsanto.
Gerald moved to Milton, Florida where he met and was joined in marriage to the former Bettye Owens. To this union was born two (2) sons, Jeffrey and Marlon.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Ida Mae Thomas; a son, Anthony Thomas; and brother, Willie Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Thomas; sons, Jeffrey (Rita) Thomas of Brownsville, TN and Marlon (Dorothy) Thomas of Enterprise, AL; daughter, Christy Farmer of Tallahassee, FL; five (5) grandchildren: Keisha, Nikki, Bionca, Mya, and Seth; goddaughter, Tatyana (Terrance) Carter; sisters, Geraldine(David) Lewis and Charlene Thomas; brother, Gilbert Thomas; uncle, Edward (Jackie) McAllister; god-sisters: Lisa (Jeron) Johnson, Vivian Harris, Paulette Best, Toni Thomas, and Veronica Beard-Barrington; sister-in-law, Ruth White; brothers-in-law, Jessie (Jan) Feagin and Richard (Lucy) Jennings; nephews: Harold (Adrienne) Caphart, Herbert (Earlene) Caphart, Russell (Michelle) Martin, DeVon (Chaka) Thomas; nieces: Tammi Thomas, Heidi Kinlaw, Tabitha Thomas, Jill Thomas, Tracy White, Venus (Eric) Lawrence, Pennye (Larry) Hayes; great-nephews: Maurice Thomas, Cameron Martin, and Kyrie Martin; great-nieces: Dorian Exum, London Thomas, and Tequira Martin; special devoted friends: David Sanders, Clifford Floyd, Charles Daniels, and John Adams; numerous great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and many friends.
