Obituary for Homer Earl "Homer, Honey, Daddy, Papa, Uncle and Friend" Baker

Gone Home!

Homer E. Baker was born September 19, 1948, in Atmore, AL. He went home to be with Jesus on March 5, 2024.

We know the rest of his obituary is supposed to be boxes checked but… We are not an inside the box kind of family.
Now to some this man was known as Homer, Hometown and Homeboy, but to his wife he was Honey; to his children he was Daddy, and to the majority he was Papa. Our daddy was a man that loves Jesus and had no problem telling you that.

This man worked over 50 years of his life, most of those years being an outstanding truck driver! He would always say he hates missing all the family functions, but he loved knowing he and Momma had it to help and give to his loved ones! Now Daddy wasn’t what one would call a “soft man” but without hesitation he was a loving one. He is best known for his big, beautiful smile, Jesus shirts, and smelling so good! Daddy, for as far back as we can remember, always had an open-door policy type of heart, he didn’t care how long you went not coming by or not talking, you were always welcomed and forever loved! He was a big brother to his siblings and an absolutely huggable Uncle to many. Not many know that daddy sang so beautifully, his most requested songs were Teen Angel, Jesus Lover of My Soul and You Better Move On. Not only did he enjoy singing but man could he tell a story, from his childhood, years in the army, to some spooky tales!

This wonderful, blessed and loving man will be missed by his wife, Robin; his children, Patti, Earl, Tammy, Kasi, Keisha and Erik. His many bonus children. Without a doubt his thirty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandbabies; his sister, Diane (David); sister, Faye; and brother Johnny (Colleen). Not to mention his many nephews and nieces plus friends and daddy’s faith throughout the years.

We truly have been blessed to have this man in our lives and he will always be in our hearts! After 75 years of life, we say goodbye for now, but we’ll see you later Homer, Honey, Daddy, Papa, Uncle and Friend! Thank you and we love you!

For those who would like to attend we will be having a celebration of life on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Christ the King Baptist Church on the corner of Bellview and Community in Pensacola at 2:00 p.m. There will be a potluck immediately following the service.
