Obituary for Irene P. Smith

Irene P Smith
1942-2022

Irene P Smith, 80, of Pensacola went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 20 ,2022. Irene was born March 10, 1942 in Pennsylvania to Lon and Mildred Miller.

Irene met her loving husband in 1956 and were married September 17, 1960. They were married for 61 wonderful years! They did everything together even dressing alike on many occasions. They competed in many western style dancing competitions and loved riding on their motorcycle all over the United States.

Anyone who knew Irene or Grams as most people in the later years called her, knew how much her family meant to her. Her child, grandchildren and great grandchildren could always count on her to attend any important sports or events in their life. She was the number one supporter for anything they would pursue.

In her retirement years she was a prominent woman in the Church at Calvary Baptist Church. She attended Bible studies, services, extra activities, whatever was done, she was there with a smile on her face. If there was food involved, you could bet your bottom dollar she was there with the most delicious sugar free dessert. Everyone loved her cooking!

Irene was preceded in death by her father, Lon Miller; mother, Mildred Miller; sister, Lucille Gaul and brother, Lee Miller.

Irene is survived by her loving husband, Charles “Smitty” Smith; daughter, Patricia (Rodney) Hammond; granddaughter, Renee (Daniel) Rogers; grandson, Bob (Rebekah) Harner; great grandchildren, Zachary Rogers, Jessica Harner, Jolene Harner, Julia Harner, and Merrick Harner and a host of extended family.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. on July 25, 2022 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd in Pensacola, FL.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
