Obituary for James Earl Luckey

His journey began on October 29, 1954, in Douglassville, TX. James was the oldest of 8 children born to James A. Luckey and Florine B. Dickerson. His childhood was spent enjoying his family, riding his horse, fishing, and creating art. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at True Vine Baptist Church in Campbell, Tx.
James was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He never met a stranger, he was selfless, supportive, and kind to every person he met. It brought him great joy to share his experiences with others. He was a true artist, he has created countless drawings, paintings, and carvings, some of which are still on display today.
At the age of 17, he decided to join the U.S. Navy where he participated in several military operations throughout the Mediterranean, the western Pacific, the South China Sea, and the Indian Ocean; assigned to places such as the Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, and Nairobi. While stationed in Milton FL, he went cruising through the town in his Navy Blue Chrysler New Yorker where he was introduced to the young and feisty Lorain Hannah. For him it was love at first sight and from then on, she was the center of his life.
Luckey’s life and legacy will live on forever in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Florine Dickerson-Luckey; brother, Michael Anthony Luckey; and grand-daughter, Azirea Lorain Chavez.
