Obituary for James Edward Prince

On Wednesday December 7, 2022, a great man was deployed to heaven to be with his Savior. James Edward “Ed” Prince passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home with his loving wife at his side as she has been for the pass 29 years. He was born in Magee, Mississippi on February 9, 1936, to Jefferson William Prince and Addie Wade Prince. Ed spent his early years with five siblings, one brother and four sisters, Thomas Jefferson Prince, Louise Butler, Linda Ann Parish, Frances Lou McNair, and Mae Ellen Buckley. Ed is predeceased by Thomas, Louise, and Linda, all of Magee, MS.
Ed joined the United States Military at the age of 17 and stayed in the Armed Forces until the age of 56 to achieve the rank of CW03. Ed endured many battles throughout his amazing life, dedicating his life to the military and the service of others. He is a Vietnam and Korean war veteran. When Ed retired from the military in,1993, he began doing what he loved, construction. He was very good at accomplishing the things that he set his mind to, like a dog with a bone, he never stopped. Ed never met a stranger, and he had more friends than anyone could count. He was fun loving and hard working. He is never happier than when he is surrounded by his family and friends, especially his beautiful grandchildren. No words can do this man justice!
Ed married Jennifer Marie McGuire in 1993, in Pensacola, Florida. Ed and Jennifer have enjoyed their many years together always surrounded by friends and family. They have not only built a happy loving marriage together, but they have also built a family together. Prior to marrying Jennifer and moving to Florida, Ed was a resident of Madison, MS, where he was married to Ola Buntin, the mother of four of his children. Ola remained a close friend over the years. Ed had eight children and many surrogate children, of which he is predeceased by William Brady Prince, Mary Robinson, and his grandson, Christopher Robinson. Ed has passed on his legacy to his surviving children, Jacqueline Ramona Prince, Sonya Lee Prince, James Eric Prince, Micah Ray Reeder, Shannon Joy Dubose, and Wade McGuire Prince. Ed has also loved and influenced the lives of his grandchildren, Denise, Kane, Caleb, Daniel, Matthew, Parker, Landis, Sullivan, Britton, Felicity, Layla, Brandalyn, Kyrie, Jonas, Simon, Marc, Nick and many great grandchildren.
Not only in his career as a United States Soldier but also in every relationship and situation he ever encountered, Ed Prince could be summed up best in the Bible verse below.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13.
Ed’s ceremony will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd, Pensacola, FL 32503 on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 0900. The burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
