Obituary for James Vernon Starling

James "Jim" Starling went home to be with his Lord on December 13, 2022, at Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Florida.

Jim was born April 6, 1948, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to June and Lottie Starling. He graduated from Boone Trail High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and is a Vietnam Veteran. Following his service he worked for the Federal Government for 28 years in A/C and refrigeration until retiring in 1999.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Thomas Starling; and sister, Marion Starling.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sue "Susie" Starling; three sons, Doug Starling (Tiffany), Daryl Starling (Hannah) and Dennis Starling (Dawn); two daughters, Jayme Ritter-Holmes (Christian) and Mischelle Mattingly (Travis); nine grandchildren: Taylor (Tyler), Kayla (Aarick), Christopher, Waylon, Phoenix, Willis, Tatum, Layla and Jameson; a brother, Steve Starling; five sisters: Brenda Owens, Diane Boggs (Johnny), Cathy Clayton (Duane), Sharon Marsh and Denise Matthews (James); and several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Bible Way Baptist Church, Milton, FL from 6-7pm followed by a memorial service at 7pm. Pastor Bill Wright will conduct the service. Since Jim was a Veteran and all of his sons served in the Military, he will be interned during a private ceremony at a later date with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
