Obituary

Jason “Suge” Sugarman, 47, of Pensacola, FL passed away suddenly this past week. He was born in Pensacola, Florida on July 14, 1973 to Edward “Eddie” C. Sugarman and Rita Janette Frazier. He grew up in Pensacola. FL, where he attended and graduated from Holmes Elementary School, Ferry Pass Middle School, and Woodham High School. He also attended Pensacola Jr. College and Faulkner State Community College. He was a stand-out athlete in multiple sports.

As an adult, he lived and worked in Pensacola; Crestview, FL; Atlanta, GA; North Dakota; Louisiana; Texas. Following his passion for fitness and athletics, he worked as a fitness coach and fitness center manager and had a brief career in WWE affiliated professional wrestling. He was certified in oilfield pipe fusion and worked as a foreman and in other capacities in oilfield production jobs in ND, LA, and TX. Jason was very passionate and loved the game of poker. He became very successful in the poker world.

Jason met the love of his life Rebecca in July 2010 and they have been together ever since and shared a bond that was like no other. When they saw each other, time stood still. They took their vows seriously, and when they said till death do us part, they meant it. They were best friends, soulmates and they had an infectious love for one another. Together they had a miracle baby named Isabella.

He loved his four children dearly and was a doting father.

He was preceded in death by his father Eddie; his first cousin Trent Murphy, who was like a brother to him, and his beloved “Granddaddy Tom” Flowers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Rebecca Sugarman; maternal grandmother, Betty “Granny” Flowers; children, Trent, Tristen, Jaylen, Isabella, and his stepdaughter, Alyssa; mother, Rita Massey; stepfather, Michael Massey; half-brother, Matthew Sugarman; aunt, Marcia Frazier, who he shared a special bond with and was like a second mother to him, aunt, Ronnie Seamon (Jon); aunt, Tracy Murphy (John); first cousin, Kheri Murphy, Trent’s sister; and Evan, Kheri’s son.

He is also survived by a host of friends and extended family members who loved him dearly for his big heart, gregarious personality, and larger-than-life presence. The family wishes to acknowledge Jason’s special bond with lifelong friends Xavier Smith, Daryle Holley, and Michael “Ruzzo” Valarezo. He was loved by so many, you couldn’t help but to love him when you met him!

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola. A visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., also at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Pensacola. Immediately after the service on Friday, there will be a Celebration of Life held at Pine Haven Missionary Baptist Church.
