Obituary for Joan I Blanchard
Joan I Blanchard, 76, of Pensacola, Florida was called home on November 20, 2022. She was born to parents Elmer and Daphine Hines Blanchard on August 31, 1946.Joan Received her education from Escambia High School, Pensacola State College and attended Tulane Nursing School in New Orleans, later she retired from Escambia County Government.
Joan was a lifetime member of both Pensacola and Mobile Camellia clubs and a lifetime member of American Camellia Society being an accredited ACS judge. She dearly loved Camellias, she grew, showed and judged them. She was also a member of the Olive Baptist Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Joan is preceded in death by her father, Elmer Blanchard and mother Daphine Hines Blanchard; sister, Alice Blanchard Selg Ewig; brother, Terry A. Blanchard.
She is survived by her identical twin sister, Judy Blanchard Kerr (Jerome J. Fritz); sister-in-law, Vickie Carter Blanchard; nephews, Greg A Selg of Bryan, TX, Jason Selg (Lorreta) of Slidell, LA and Kevin A Blanchard (Diana) of Pensacola, FL; niece, Lisa Blanchard of Pensacola, FL; also, her much loved cousin, Cherry Sherouse Wade, numerous grandnieces, nephews and her cat ‘Squeaky’.
A celebration of life for Joan I Blanchard will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Boulevard, Pensacola, FL on December 17, 2022. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Humane Society or your favorite charity in Joan’s name. Joan will be missed by her many friends and loved ones.
