Obituary for John David Shelton

He loved us…all of us.
Way more than anyone would know.
He was a husband, brother and friend
And the friends he picked, were family
And the family he picked was his
…the family he chose
He was loyal to his
He picked us
He loved you, the reader
Your life choices and everything you are
Our family misses him
We are sad
We are angry
And we love him
Always and forever
John cared about you, the reader, your way of life and whatever it took… including up and to his life. He devoted 26 years of military service to our freedom
He loved everyone, how they felt how they believed and how they thought
He spent the majority of his life defending our way of life and what was his. He did his best and that’s all that matters. He did everything he could to make our lives better.
We are so sorry that we will be no longer have him…for now
But for every sun that rises, for every wave that crashes, we know that you are with us.
The smell of spring, the sun of summer, the crisp of fall and the chill of winter…you walk with us… and one day you will be there to guide us.
J.D, we love you, and we will always miss you, only until it’s our turn, in which we will be together and understand and be able to embellish our lives.

JD, John, John David or David, however you knew him, you knew how voracious of a learner he was and how much he enjoyed sharing what he had learned. He needed to leave this earth just a little better than when he came into it. We want you to honor him in any manner you feel he would appreciate, whether that be a story of how you met, some piece of knowledge he instilled you with or just a good dad joke, however you can also honor him by donating to your Local Public Library, Public radio station or cancer research.
