Obituary for Johnnie Jemison
Johnnie Jemison, age 74, passed away on April 17, 2022. He was born in 1948 to Savage and Georgia (Chestang) Jemison in Pensacola, FL.
Johnnie proudly served in the United States Army where he was awarded medals for national defense service and good conduct. After his army days, you could find Johnnie working hard as a construction worker and cement finisher. He also enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, and spending time with his family in his spare time.
Anyone that truly knows Johnnie, knows that he will give his shirt off his back to a complete stranger. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Johnnie was kind, selfless, hardworking, and a man of his word. He told some of the best stories and always gave sound advice.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his father, Savage Jemison; mother, Georgia Chestang; and sister, Georgia Mae Chestang.
He is survived by his loving children, Stacie Jemison, Mark (Tiffani) Jemison, Brian (Angie) Jemison, Dajohn Jemison, Johnnie (Trina) Jemison Jr., Devin Jemison, Tommie Lee Hampton III, Valerie Hampton, and Kimberly Sampson; his brothers, Leon (Maxine)Jemison, Julius (Debbie) Chestang, Raymond Griff, Anthony (Brenda) Chestang, Columbus Westley Sr.; and sister, Donna Dean. A host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
