Joyce Ellen Rand Roberts-King
1932 – 2023

Joyce Ellen Rand Roberts-King, age 90, is resting peacefully in God’s care after losing her long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease on February 15, 2023.

She was born May 5, 1932 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Arthur Rand and the late Ellen Doyle Rand Gallechio and her late husband, Pasquale of Haverhill (who is Joyce’s step-father and a legend in her eyes). In 1960, Joyce packed up the car and relocated to Pensacola, FL with her children to be near her sister, June Rand Whiteley, and family.

Besides her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Lee Glass and her son, Darrell C. Roberts, III. She is also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, June and Bill Whiteley.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Franklin King; daughter, Debbie (Walker) Stewart, adopted daughter (biological granddaughter) Amy (Brad) Lipkin; three grandchildren, Heather Covington (Robert) Brown, Rende Young, Niki (Jeff) Dean; six great grandchildren, Cory (Haley) Glass, William (Reagan) Collier, Bobby Roach, Faith Covington Wise, and Alexis and Emily Lipkin; six great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Elaine (John) Cronin and Judy (Ted) Trafka. She is also survived by step-daughter/granddaughter, Cindy King and Makayla King, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Joyce and her beloved husband, Frank, enjoyed spending many great times with friends and family at Ft. Morgan, AL. Joyce worked in the service industry for many years, waitressing at the famous Martine’s Restaurant when first arriving in Pensacola and owning her own establishment in the mid-60’s, Azalea Restaurant, located on Gregory Street.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on Friday, February 24th, 2023 at 2:30 pm with Rev. Eugene Casserly officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until the time of the service.

Joyce’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff with Covenant Hospice and the numerous caregivers for their excellent care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or to Covenant Hospice.
