Obituary for Joyce Keeler

Joyce Neville Keeler

Joyce Neville Keeler, age 86, of Pensacola, Florida passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022. Joyce was born December 22, 1935 to EK and Maggie Neville in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was one of seven daughters.
Joyce is preceded in death by her five sisters, Virginia Neville, Ethel Godfrey, Dorothy Kerr, Mary Murphy, and June Graham.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Keeler; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Sonic Fonacier and Kelly and Ben Bowen; and grandchildren, Alexis and Skyler Fonacier and Keeler and Parker Bowen, all of Pensacola, Florida; and one sister, Eleanor Helms; and many extended family.
Joyce married Richard Keeler who was in the U.S. Navy and lived in Wilmington, North Carolina. She enjoyed moving around the country being a part of the Navy family. She later went on to be a lifelong teacher at various schools and always enjoyed working with the children. They would always bring a smile to her, and she loved them like her own.
Joyce was loved by all and always enjoyed doing for others. She dedicated her life to providing the best life for her children and grandchildren. She put them before her, being the best mom and grandmother one could be. When they were younger, she loved picking the grandchildren up and going on adventures, laughing, and having a good time. Favorite stops included Chick-fil-a, the Dollar Store, and Tom Thumb for an Icee and candy. As the grandchildren grew older, Joyce was a beaming grandmother and proud of all of their accomplishments. She was always ready to brag and show pictures of each of them.
Joyce also enjoyed riding on the back of their Harley or Honda motorcycles. She and Richard would ride with the Harley or Gold Wing groups seeing the great outdoors and stopping for lunch and treats along the way.
The family wishes to thank all of the Caregivers for their compassionate care and support they provided to Joyce. It was truly appreciated.
The family will hold a graveside memorial service at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola on Wednesday, August 10, at 10:30 am. Processional will begin lining up from Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd, in Pensacola at 9:40 am pulling out at 10:00 am to Barrancas National Cemetery.
