Obituary for Kenneth "Craig" Barrow
Kenneth “Craig” Barrow, 68, of Milton, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, in Milton, FL.
Craig was born June 19, 1952, in Pensacola, Florida and was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Louis R. Barrow; his mother, Mary James Barrow; and his brother-in-law, Terry McGee.
Craig was raised on Bayou Texar and because of his love of the water, he always wanted to follow in the footsteps of his great grandfather, Captain W. G. Barrow of the Tarpon. He graduated from Pensacola Academy and attended Pensacola Junior College and the University of Central Florida. After working diligently to acquire his half-ton captain’s license he spent his early years as a crew boat captain for the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico, then moved on to run charter fishing boats. His ultimate joy was being a private boat captain, traveling the waters around the world and participating in fishing tournaments.
Craig was a life-long Florida Gators fan and became a Miami Dolphins fan while living in Key Largo. Once he met his wife, Samantha, he became a devoted member of the “Who Dat” Nation and enjoyed many weekends with friends in New Orleans cheering on The Saints.
After retirement, Craig continued his love of boats and fishing and put his heart into restoring his own boat. He took great pride in “getting stopped” by the Coast Guard, as they simply wanted to look at the great job he did and bragging that he was a half-ton boat captain. He loved spending time on the water with his friends boating, floating, and fishing.
Kenneth Craig Barrow is survived by his wife, Samantha Schneider; daughter, Analise Himsl of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Cherie Barrow McGee of Mobile, AL; niece, Dawn McGee Shadow (Michael) of Brandon, MS; nephew, Rhett E. McGee of Mobile; great nephews, William, Samuel, and Benjamin Shadow; great niece, Macy Shadow; cousins, Stephen F. Holladay and Bruce J. Holladay of Pensacola; and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge Covenant Hospice and Sandy Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and caring of Craig during his final days.
A celebration of Kenneth “Craig” Barrow’s life will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 2:00pm at The Break Beach Bar, Pensacola Beach.
