Kenneth Dykes Penny
December 30, 1943 – February 18, 2021

Kenneth Dykes Penny, 77, of Pensacola, went to be with his Lord on February 18, 2021 of COVID-19. He was born on December 30, 1943 in Greenville, Kentucky. His family moved to Pensacola in 1951 when he was eight years old (the same year his wife’s family moved to Pensacola). Ken was in the Navy in the late 60’s, and worked at NAS Pensacola, and with his wife at Wal-Mart. He retired in 2007 to enjoy life!
Kenneth and his wife have been an inspiration to so many people. They attend Corry Chapel and love the Lord with all their heart.
Kenneth loved the Word of God and listening to sermons. He also enjoyed making things with wood. He made clocks, wooden crosses (including the one in the back at Corry Chapel), earrings, and even purses (yes, out of wood). He also made a sturdy shelf to display several larger examples from his impressive model train collection (partially to clear some floor space), which included several model train sets left to him by his father-in-law Joe Jefferies. Every Christmas he would arrange a display that circled the tree, blowing whistles and puffing smoke. He had a deft hand with calligraphy and could sketch anything freehand, often embellishing the letter he sent home while away at Navy duty stations. He will also be fondly missed for his skill at storytelling and the numerous detailed and engrossing stories he could tell over cards, during fellowship, or other events.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Nola Penny; son, Tim Penny; grandson, Eddie Penny; two brothers, Bill (Zam) Penny and Fred (Pam) Penny; sister, Sue Ann (Jimm) Zajicek; sister-in-law, Ann (John) Deal and their daughter Jayden Deal; brother-in-law, Mike Jefferies and several nieces and nephews.
We want to thank all the doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital for taking care of Kenneth.
Burial will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola on March 26, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. Those who attend will meet the Trahan Family Funeral Home procession at Warrington Baptist Church – now Olive Baptist Church located on Winthrop Ave at 11:00 a.m. Chaplain John I. Eastman will officiate the Service.
Guest are invited to lunch after the Burial Service at The Oar House (no host; visit for menu and pricing.
