Obituary for Mary Ann Wilde

Mary Ann Wilde, 67, of Pensacola, Fl passed away on June 14, 2022. She was born on September 28, 1954, in New Orleans, Louisiana to Earl M. Anderson and Margaret L. Bennen. She was raised in New Orleans and Key West.

She graduated from Grace King High School in 1972 as a sponsor of Phi Sigma Chi. Mary Ann started working for Travelers and later retired from LSU Medical Center where she was an executive assistant for the Anatomy Department and Dean.

She was the third daughter of five children. Mary Ann met her lifelong partner in 1970, married Lester H. Wilde Jr on September 17, 1976. She had one son, Sterling R Wilde, and welcomed granddaughter Evangeline R. Wilde last year..

Mary Ann rescued and raised many cats, dogs, and a couple birds in her lifelong devotion to animal wellbeing.

She was a member of the Audubon Zoo, a charter member of the Aquarium of the Americas, and a frequent supporter of many animal welfare organizations. She lived with a passion for the sun, music, and festivals. Her hobbies were a variety of crafts and exercising and she would go all out decorating and dressing up for Mardi Gras and Halloween. She was a practicing Catholic of Saint Ann’s and St. Paul.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl M. Anderson, and Margaret L. Bennen; sister, Diane M. Cannan; and so many of her furry and feathered family who she memorialized every year with a collection of personalized Christmas stockings.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, and son; sister, Sharron M. Lanham; two younger brothers, Earl “Sonny” C. Anderson and Noel G. Anderson; and her last rescues, Lacey, Tiger, Spots, Smokey and Thibodeaux..
