Migdalia “Mickey” Collazo
December 27, 1956 – February 2, 2021

Migdalia “Mickey” Collazo, 64, of Pensacola, FL passed away on February 2, 2021. Mickey was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 27, 1956 to parents, Reverend Cruz Collazo, and Elizabeth Collazo (Sein) of Corozal and Ai Bonita, Puerto Rico.

She moved to Youngstown, Ohio from Brooklyn, New York in her teenage years, where she spent most of her life. She lived in Pensacola, Florida for the last few years of her life, spending them with her oldest child, youngest child, and all of her grandchildren.

Migdalia was a high school graduate with a certificate in Secretarial Studies. After high school, she married and started a family. Migdalia was a stay-at-home mother for most of her early adult life. When she did begin to work, her most prized job was at Shepherd of the Valley (nursing home) in Boardman, Ohio. She worked as a part-time receptionist, although her presence meant so much more to the residents. She visited with the sick and elderly on a regular basis, reminding each person how important and loved they were. Small acts of kindness included decorating rooms of the residents for each holiday, daily smiles, words of encouragement and praying with anyone who needed it.

She volunteered with AmeriCorps, working with their Early Literacy Program. Migdalia was also a co-founder of Children’s Church at Spanish Evangelical Church in Youngstown, Ohio. She touched the lives of many children which she loved and prayed for daily. Many of those children, now adults, are still friends of the family and presently attest to how much God touched their lives through her life and love.

Migdalia was currently a member of Liberty Church – North Campus in Pensacola, FL.

She is preceded in death by her father, Reverend Cruz Collazo; and mother, Elizabeth Collazo (Sein).

Migdalia is survived by three children, Elmer Cruz, Jr., Jason Cruz, and Misty Rose Cruz; daughter in love, Natasha Cruz; four grandchildren, Ejay Raymond Cruz, Isaiah Marcel Cruz, Nesya Armond Cruz, and Mia Iliece Allen; four sisters, Vivian Collazo, Mildred Bonilla, Nidia Molina, and Dorcas Collazo-Lopez; two brother in loves, Jose Lopez and William Molina; nieces and nephews, Traci Molina-Smith, Christopher Molina, Alejandro Lopez and his lovely wife Angelina Lopez, Elizabeth Lopez, and Bethany Lopez; seven aunts and uncles, Ines Sein, Luis Sein, Clothilde Sein, Esther Sierra, Miriam Sein, Jorge Sein, and Pura Agosto; three great nephews and two great nieces, Darion Molina, Elena Smith, Ezekiel Lopez, Ezra Lopez, and Evangeline Lopez; there are also several members of extended family from her past marriage: many in laws (loves), whom she still considered brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces; she will also be missed by countless friends whose life she touched ; she loves you all very much.

Special acknowledgements go out to everyone who has surrounded our family with love and support. You have talked with us, cried with us, brought us meals, called, texted, provided words of encouragement, prayed with us and for us. We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Although our family is not native to the Pensacola area, God has truly placed extra family and friends around us to support and comfort us during this difficult time. The words “Thank you” will never be enough; words cannot express our gratitude.
Migdalia will be laid to earthly rest on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Liberty Church – North Campus: 9420 Music Lane, Pensacola, FL 32514.

A limited (invite only) public viewing will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.. Then, a homegoing service will begin at 2:30 to provide closure to those who loved her, releasing her into the arms of Jesus.

Due to the current pandemic, attendance is for the family only and very few local friends. We want to fully enjoy sending her home, while being mindful of the health and safety of others. However, her service will be televised. You can find the service on Liberty North Campus, Pensacola’s YouTube Channel: We regret we could not have all who love her present, so we wanted to make her homegoing accessible to all who cannot be present. Please join us live at the link above, starting with the public viewing at 1:30 p.m. central (2:30 p.m. eastern).

Migdalia was the definition of love and forgiveness. She was the first to forgive, the first to say, “I’m Sorry” and had the ability to love the unlovable. Especially within the last several years of her life, she made it a point to make sure all loved ones knew she was always thinking of them, loved them, and was praying for them always. She loved the Lord with all her heart. God’s Word was her hope and comfort; and she reached out sharing that hope with many of her beloved friends and family. May God comfort all who mourn. We pray all find joy in knowing she is with her Savior now. Well done, good and faithful servant.
