Nels Norman Neumann, 57 of Panama City, Florida, was called home to Glory on the evening of September 21, 2022. Nels was a dedicated son, father, brother, grandfather, and minister. Nels was born to Adolf and Nellie Neumann in Stanford, California on April 30, 1965. He graduated from Hanalani High School in Mililani, Hawaii one year earlier than his classmates. Shortly after, he went on to join the US Army and served his country as an Infantryman with valor four years. Upon exiting the Army, Nels used his GI Bill to complete his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and then went on to serve the government in various civilian positions for well over 30 years.
Throughout the years, Nels enjoyed, riding his motorcycle nationwide, sailing on boats, competitive shooting, and spending time with his family. Nels truly walked in the footsteps of Jesus’ teachings by ministering to people in need where others might be fearful to go. Never judgmental, Nels was a highly revered and trusted listening ear to all. Gossip was never part of his life. He visited those in prison and attempted to advise others to always do the right thing in any setting.
His ministering and outreach to the dark side of our turbulent world touched many in many nations. His love for travel and adventure led him to his companionship with a number of national motorcycle clubs.
Nels is survived by his parents Adolf and Nellie Neumann; his brother Nathan Neumann; daughters Amanda, Heather (Andrew), and Hailey; and grandchildren Matthias and Elliana, as well as many extended family members.
Please join his family for a celebration of life on October 1, 2022, at St. Andrews Assembly of God, Panama City. There will be a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral at 2:00 p.m. After services have concluded, Nels will go for his Final Ride that will end in Pensacola. A small graveside gathering will occur at a later date in Virginia. If Nels has touched your life, please stop by to share happy memories, and celebrate Nels’ life in the way he would want to be remembered- as a loving and caring man who enjoyed life.
