Obituary for Nelson Stiltner

Nelson Hamilton Stiltner, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chehalis, Washington, on August 8, 1936, Nelson leaves behind a rich legacy filled with love, devotion, and hard work.

Nelson is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Dolores Stiltner, with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage in November. Together in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, they raised three children, Edward (Paige) Stiltner, Michael (Susan) Stiltner, and Kim Gosseen. Nelson's love for family extended to his five cherished grandchildren, CJ, Ross, Taylor, Holly, and Nick, as well as four great-grandchildren, who will carry on his memory and values.

Raised on a farm in Chehalis, Washington, Nelson developed a strong work ethic and unwavering determination that would guide him throughout his life. At age 18, he entered the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. He then worked in the civil service of the government, while at the same time, earning a Bachelor of Science (1985) and Master of Education (1987) from the University of Southern Mississippi. Nelson was the first Stiltner to graduate from college. In 1992, he started his present business, NS Software. With all his hard work, he instilled in his family the importance of honor, integrity, and service.

Nelson was a pillar of strength for his family, always providing support and guidance in their lives. His dedication to his community was evident. He was a loyal friend, always available to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His laughter and sense of humor brightened the lives of those around him.

In his free time, Nelson treasured moments that he spent with his grandchildren, sharing stories, and creating lasting memories. He took great pride in sharing his knowledge and skills with his beloved family. For many years, Nelson and Dolores would share fun weekends together while they traveled to Biloxi, Mississippi, to enjoy the casinos and local seafood restaurants.

Nelson's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and perseverance. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched and the family he so deeply loved.

As we say our final farewells, we remember Nelson Stiltner as a beacon of love, strength, and compassion. He will be dearly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all those who had the honor of knowing him.

Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Parkway is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday April 13, 2023, at Trahan Family Funeral Home’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, with Chaplin Brian Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
