Obituary for Nena Rose Hallum

“Do it the Nena way.”
Nena Rose Hallum, 42, passed away on January 19th, 2023. She was born on July 10th, 1980 in Greenwood, Mississippi to Mitzi Peeterse and Charlie Hallum. In 1990, she was blessed to have Charles Peeterse enter her life as her dad. She graduated from Pace High School; she went on to serve her country in the United States Navy from 1998 through 2007. She was proud of her service, and even served on the USS John F. Kennedy during Operation Enduring Freedom after 9/11. She was vocal about her political opinions and any kind of injustice. She was always right by your side fighting the battle with you. Her love of God and her country was obvious in everything she did, especially in her generosity and forgiving heart. One of the last conversations she had with one of her sisters was, “I wish I had the means to help you get on your feet.” At the time of her passing she was employed as a stylist at the Hairbar in Pace since July 2022. She previously worked at Shears, Etc. and Tangles, where she was admired and respected by clients and co-workers alike. She loved her family, fishing, and she loved those Seminoles.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ray and Bessie Tisdale and Charles and Peggy Peeterse.
She is survived by the love of her life, Matthew Quinn and his parents, Debbie and Bill Quinn; her son, Christian Blake Perry; parents, Mitzi and Charles Peeterse; brothers, Charlie Lee Hallum and Charles Peeterse III; sisters: Tiffney Lee (Mike Goodyear), Amanda Peeterse Jones (Charlie), Tammye Welch (Robert), Michelle Peeterse (Cooper), and Melissa Kuykendall Anderson (Jamie); her furry pups, Yogi, Bear, and Shelby; three nephews; eight nieces; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Anderson, Charlie Jones, Robert Welch, AJ Lee, Ryan Welch, and Daniel Quinn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you forgive the person that may not deserve your forgiveness and help that person in need as it may be life changing.
Visitation will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Monday January 30th, 2023, between 6 pm and 8pm. Funeral services will be rendered at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton the following day, Tuesday, January 31st, 2023, at 11am with a procession to Barrancas National Cemetery to follow.
“Love hard and forgive often.”
