AMCS Peter T. Long passed away on April 6, 2021 in Pensacola, Florida. Peter was born on November 20, 1955 in Marshfield, Wisconsin to Benjamin Eli Bue and Gerda Selma Swirgsdin.
Pete graduated from Baker High School in 1973. He joined the US Navy right out of high school. Pete retired from the US Navy after serving for 21 years. We moved to Pensacola in 1984 and decided to stay here. He continued to work at NAS. First at the fuel station on Sherman field and then he went to work at Combined Bachelor Quarters NAS. Pete retired from there on December 1, 2020. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend. He was an avid angler. He just loved everything about the water whether it is boating, sailing, kayaking, or just sitting at the beach. Pete was a jack of all trades. He lived life to the fullest and loved sharing with family and friends.
Pete is preceded in death by his daughter, Brandy Bramlett and his parents, Gerda Baht and Benjamin Bue.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 46 years, Sandra Long; son, Christopher; brothers, Bobby Long, Russell (Debbie) Long; half-brother, Frank Bue; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Ciara, Jasmine and Gavin; his fur babies, Lucy, Sosha, Holly Berries and Angel.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
A Service for Pete will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Trahan Family Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Service to follow at 12:30. After the Service we will leave in procession to Barrancas National Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m.
