Obituary for Terry Wasden

Randolph “Terry” Wasden
1955 – 2023

Randolph Terrell Wasden Jr., 67, of Jay, Florida, passed away on January 26th, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Wasden, fondly known as Terry, was born to Minnie Ola [Cowart] and Randolph T. “Ted” Wasden, Sr., on July 28th, 1955, in Brewton, Alabama.

He served as a senior pastor and youth minister for several decades, as well as a beloved middle school teacher for the last 20 years of his life. He was a man of enduring faith, with a heart for embracing the diversity in humanity. In the early morning hours of January 26th, 2023, he passed away peacefully in his bed. With great love, Terry was brought into this world, and with great love he exited this world to be with his many loved ones, including his cherished pets.
Terry was a kind and caring father and big brother. Terry always looked out for his deaf brother, John, physically and financially. Terry’s heart was heavy with concern for John's well-being after his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anne Cannon and eldest brother, Daniel Bell of Jay.

Terry is survived by his only child, Benjamin (33); former wife, though dear friend, Kricket and her husband, Paul Guidone; his deeply adored brother, John Wasden of Jay; his sisters, Frances (Gene) Ellis, Brenda Brown of Flomaton, AL, and Cecilia Bray of Jay; and his brother-in-law, Bill Cannon.

Terry’s family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and the service will begin at 3:00 PM.

Our family would like to humbly request that in lieu of flowers donations be given to help off-set the needs of John Wasden. We know that Terry would be immensely grateful for any assistance for John and his future needs. We appreciate any gift large or small in Terry’s honor. We are all grateful beyond words.

Donations will be accepted at the memorial service. Electronic donations may be made through PayPal (@jwasdengogators). Donations may also be mailed to John Wasden, PO Box 11891, Pensacola, FL 32504.
