Richard Manning Hutson-Haight, 39 years old, of Pensacola, Florida, died on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at home in his sleep. Richard was born February 9, 1983, in Biloxi, Mississippi to James Edwin Hutson (father) and Carrie Anne Wagner (mother).
Richard moved from Mississippi to Kissimmee, Florida where he grew up. During Richard’s senior year of high school, he was involved in a serious motor vehicle collision which left him in a coma and with serious medical injuries. Richard fought hard and recovered from his injuries and graduated high school from Osceola High. Richard was heavily involved in Bible Bowl and dance during his childhood.
During Richard’s early adulthood he began finding his love for education. Richard began his education at Florida Christian College where he received an Associate of Arts (May 2, 2003). Richard started at Seminole State College going to school for an Associates of Science as a Surgical Technician. Richard decided this was not challenging enough for him, so he moved into higher levels of medical education. Richard started at Seminole State College of Florida receiving an Associates of Science in Nursing (October 18, 2013) with Cum Laude honors; University of Central Florida receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (May 1, 2014) with Cum Laude and Delta Epsilon Iota honors; South University of Savannah Georgia receiving a Master of Science in Nursing (August 17, 2020) with High Honors; American Nurses Credentialing Center receiving credentials of Family Nurse Practitioner FNP-BC (September 2, 2020 to September 1, 2025).
Richard was heavily involved in multiple community outreach programs for the homeless, pediatric patients with HIV, and the LGBTQ+ community. He would always sit down with anyone who needed help furthering their education. No matter what you were going through or your personality, Richard would make you his friend and you would never walk away without smiling or laughing.
Richard is survived by his husband, Montague (Monty) Benton Haight-Hutson III; parents, James (Cheryl) Hutson and Carrie Wagner; sisters, Megan (Justin) Bennett and Chelsea Hutson; sister-in-law, Annie (Thomas) Townsend; in-laws, Montague (Benny) and Cathy Haight; his grandparents, Vicki Martin, Ruth Wagner, Jim Wilks, Gary Hutson, and Rose Touart; nieces and nephews, Emily Kummer, Conor Kummer, Zooey Kummer, Marley Jung, Baylen Matthew Payne, Allie Grace Townsend, and Thomas Andrew Townsend Jr.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Richard was cremated by Trahan Family Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2023. Visiting is from 10:00am-11:00am and a celebration of life service will immediately follow from 11:00am-12:00pm at St. Luke United Methodist Church, at 1394 East Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Florida 32514. Richard’s husband and family will hold a gathering with food following the service in the fellowship hall at St. Luke UMC.
