Robert F. Selinka “Bobby”
February 2, 1940-September 21, 2023

Robert Frank Selinka, “Bobby” age 83, Pensacola, FL resident, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023. Bobby was born on February 2, 1940 in New York, NY to the late Frank Selinka and Mildred Ackerly Selinka.

On April 16, 1957, Bobby joined the United States Navy where he served as an Aerographer’s Mate until his retirement on October 18, 1978. Bobby honorably and faithfully served our great country for over 21 years achieving the rank of a Chief Petty Officer (E7). Bobby was awarded many Commendations and Medals during his service. Bobby retired from the Navy in Pensacola, FL and spent his remaining years here making it his home. Bobby also served in the Federal Government for over 17 years as a Meteorological Technician.

Bobby thoroughly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. First and foremost, he was a wonderful Dad and loved each of his children very much. They all had their own special role and he would know exactly who to call for a particular task he needed done. His children always delivered! Bobby carried many titles: Dad, Grandpa, Papaw, Chief, Golfer, King of Karaoke, Storyteller, Jokester, Trivia Expert, Life of the Party, and Best Lunch Date to name just a few. There were many unique sides to Bobby and those who knew him, knew him in their own special way.

Bobby was always surrounded by many friends at the golf course, VFW 706, and the American Legion Post 240 and always spoke so fondly of each and every one of them. A special lady in his life and truly his very best friend was Vicki Smith. She took such amazing care of him, made him laugh and gave him a run for his money. He didn’t realize she could keep up with him and his quick wit! He loved her very much and they had the best of times.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Selinka; his parents, Frank and Mildred Selinka; and his brother Fred Selinka.

Bobby is survived by his 6 children, Lynne Dunbar (John Chapman), Ellen Couture (Ronnie), Richard Miller, Terry Soucie, Julie Braswell (Curtis), and Janet Mejias (Eddy), all of Pensacola, FL; eleven grandchildren, Aly (Josh), Garrett (Caroline), Derek (Sarah), Miranda (Courtney), Josh, Jared, Krista, Carlee, Chastity (John), Brandon (Amanda), and Jessy; nine great grandchildren, Matthew, Esmae, Sterling, Jackson, John-Michael, Aubrey, Joseph, Blakely, and Judah.

Funeral Services will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 60 Industrial Blvd., Pensacola, FL on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 11:30 am with burial services following at Barrancas National Cemetery onboard NAS Pensacola, Eddy Mejias will be the officiant of both. A farewell celebration will follow at the VFW Post 706, 5000 Lillian Hwy, Pensacola, FL for all family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
