Obituary for Roger Barker
Roger Barker, 74, went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2023. He was born September 7, 1948 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Virginia Barker.
He served 23 years in the military in two separate branches. While serving in the Army he fought in Vietnam as a Green Beret in Special Forces receiving 2 Purple Hearts. Retiring from the Navy, after serving in the Gulf War, receiving Navy Achievement Medal and many other honors. Between serving in both branches of the military he was a Coal Miner and after retiring a Truck Driver.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Doris Longdon Barker; brothers, James (Susan) Barker and Paul (Barbara) Barker; daughter, Kathy Winch; sons, Jason (Nicki) Barker and Shawn (Prissy) Barker; granddaughters, Megan (Robert ) Barker and Shawna Barker; grandson, Mathew Barker; and great-granddaughters, Jocelynn, Arieanna, and Kahleese.
Mr. Barker will be inurned on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered.
Family and friends will gather at Trahan Family Funeral Home at 12:00 PM and will go in procession leaving the funeral home at 12:50 PM.
