Obituary for Roger Calvin Phillips

Roger Calvin Phillips, of Milton, Fla., passed away on December 13, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old.

Roger was born in Brewton, Ala. and was the only son of John Calvin Phillips and Dorlie Belle (Sellers) Phillips. He attended Jefferson Davis Community College where he studied business.

He was the loving husband of Naomi A. (Sharon) Phillips, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last January. Early in their marriage, they lived in West Chester, Pa. before moving to Florida in 1989.

Roger was a doting and supportive father to their three children Dawn Phillips, Erica (Phillips) Moyer and Brian Phillips. That love and attention carried on to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He never missed a graduation, school event or sports game. He was always holding the babies of the family and found great joy in those moments.

Roger served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. When he came home, he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and retired in 1985. He was also a used car dealer & owned CPR Motors, Inc.

He loved to tinker and restore old cars. He was a fan of muscle cars, especially the Chevrolet Chevelle.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi; his daughters Dawn, and Erica (and husband Brent Moyer); his son Brian (and wife Kristen Phillips); his grandchildren Samantha Griffith (husband Gage Whiddon), Duncan Griffith and Jesse Clark; two great grandchildren Adan Griffith & Hazly Griffith; sister Arlene Holland; half-brothers Randy Cabaniss (wife Debbie) and Dale Cabaniss (wife Maylyn); and many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans or Dementia Society of America.
