Obituary for Ronald Devon Belote

Ronald Devon Belote (65), of Milton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2022.   

Ron was born on April 26, 1957, to Norma Lee Lynch Belote and McGlawn Harley Belote in Macon, Georgia. Ron enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1974 and retired after more than 20 years in 1995 as an E6, Rank, Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. During his service, he proudly served as an Aircraft Firefighter on, Barin Crash Rescue Team. His service to our country included time on the USS Carl Vinson Carrier CVN-70, the USS Independence CV-62, and the USS Forrestal CV-59. After retirement, the next step was employment with Seacor as an offshore oil rig Supply Boat Chief Engineer.   


In March 2008, Ron met Linda Young on Match.com. Ron and Linda met in person for the first time in Panama City Airport. It was love at first Ronald Devon Belote (65), of Milton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2022.

The first two weeks of dating consisted of Ron taking care of Linda who had the flu. During the second two weeks, Linda took care of Ron, who came down with the flu. The flu did not deter their relationship! Ron and Linda were together 15 years. During that time, they owned Impressive Dry Cleaners in Pensacola, Florida. Impressive was not only a dry-cleaning business, it was a place of friendship and laughter.

Ron’s favorite activities included relic hunting with close friends, fishing, shark tooth, and arrow head collecting, kayaking, and traveling. His passions included his wife, puppies, cooking LARGE amounts of food, and gardening, Ron was also a season ticket-holder for the Blue Wahoos. He attended as many games as possible and made friends with everyone he met.

Ron is survived by his wife, Linda Young Belote, sons Ronald, Jr., Joshua, and Fleming Belote, Step-Daughter, Marlene Young Racca, and Step-Grandson Braedon Young.

Services will be held at the Barrancas National Cemetery, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. For those wishing to attend, Trahan Funeral Home will meet drivers at 9:30 a.m. at Olive Baptist Church, 103 W. Winthrop Ave., Warrington, FL. Only individuals in line will be escorted onto the base as a group for a graveside service.



Kidney disease impacts approximately 1 out of 7 people in the United States. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Fund at American Kidney Foundation. Additional options include donations in Ron’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choosing.

A reception for family and friends to gather and share memories will be held at the home of Carol & Bill Calfee, 7664 Lakeside Drive, Milton, Florida te.
