Obituary for Rossella G. Baker

Rossella “Ross” Guess Baker, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023, at her home in Gulf Breeze, FL. Ross was born on April 28, 1953, in Pensacola, FL to Henry Grady Guess, Jr. and Maude Evelyn Meloy Guess. She was adored by her parents.
Ross graduated from Gulf Breeze High School in 1971. She attended Livingston University in Livingston, AL for two years, then Morehead State University in Morehead Kentucky where she graduated with a BS degree in Textiles and Apparel in 1975. After graduating, Ross was accepted into the Management Training Program with McRae’s Department Store which led her to a lovely life in Jackson, MS, where she raised three daughters.
After moving back to Gulf Breeze in 2004, you could always find her sitting on the front porch “her happy place” chatting with friends, neighbors, and park goers. She welcomed all visitors to join her for conversation and a glass of wine. In her younger days, she enjoyed water-skiing, trampolines, Girl Scouts and beautiful beach days. She was active in the Junior League of Jackson, Habitat for Humanity and S James Episcopal Church. You could occasionally find her mowing the grass in a sequin tube top! She was a collector of knick-knacks, seashells, art, loved southern cooking and sunsets.
Ross was preceded in death by her parents, Henry (Boody) Grady Guess, Jr., Maude Evelyn Meloy Guess, and her brother, Henry (Hank) Guess, III.
Ross is survived by her three daughters, Brynnen Baker Quick (Adam), Lacey Baker Lacoste (Donn), and Carley Baker; as well as her grandchildren, Baker Rose Quick, Charlie Quick, Leon Lacoste; granddogs, Floyd and Chloe Magnolia; her nephew, Adam Guess; and niece, Misty Guess.
Family will be holding a private service in the Spring.
