Obituary for Shelby Kalin

Shelby Jean Kalin, 86, of Pensacola, FL passed away on March 31, 2023. She was born in Yulan, NY on June 27, 1936 but grew up in Port Jervis, NY. Shelby graduated from Port Jervis High school in 1954 and Troy State University on June 13, 1992 with a masters degree. She was a master gardener, and also enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. Shelby was a football fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Florida State University. Throughout her life, Shelby lived in New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, Guam, Japan and has been a Florida resident since 1972.

Shelby was preceded in death by her parents, William Peter and Eva Mae Kalin; siblings, Adolph Tracy Kalin, Annabelle Kalin Kent, Orville Cyrus Kalin, Arleafa Mae Kalin, William Merwin Kalin, Doris Elaine Kalin Smith, Vernon Louis Kalin, Loretha Alberta Kalin Hughes, Vincent Glenn Kalin and Shirley Ann Kalin.

She is survived by her five children, Jodi Lynne Bensley McKissack (Bart), Bonney May Bensley Brewton (Ron), Randy Philip Bensley (Suzanne), Danny Philip Bensley (Traci), Tracy Allen Bensley (Leigh Ann); 11 grandchildren, Mathew Damon Madril (Lindsay), Lauren Amanda McKissack, Haley Marie McKissack, Kara Elizabeth McKissack, Cassidy Elizabeth Bensley, Carson Philip Bensley, Cameron Jay Bensley, Aaron Wendell Bensley, Braedon Philip Bensley, Taylor Ann Bensley and Avery Renee Bensley; three great grandchildren, Pierce Grady Alli, Wilder Wesley Alli and Jeremiah Anthony Garrett; several beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Shelby will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home.
