"Mrs. Shiou-Mei Vallese departed this world on March 11, 2021 at the age of 79 in Pensacola, Florida, her home for 39 years. She was born in Nantou, Taiwan, as the 6th of 7 children to Deng-Hon Du and Chien-Jin Chen. “Mei", as she was known, was a devoted wife to US Army Lt. Col. Blaise H. Vallese (deceased) and proud mother of Theresa and James. She was a beloved friend to many in the Pensacola area, where she enjoyed a happy family life and her pastimes of bingo and bowling. From 2003 to 2006, she was hostess at the China Doll restaurant and, with her friends Anna and Susie, helped to run the restaurant with much humor and laughter.
She is predeceased by her husband, Blaise, and survived by her children, Theresa and James, her two older sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warriors."
